Boudoir photography can feel intimidating and empowering all at once and it’s totally normal to feel both of these emotions leading up to your session! However, my goal as yourboudoir photographer is to help you feel empowered, strong, and beautiful –not intimidated–so there are a few things I want all my gorgeous gals to know before going into their boudoir session!
-
Do your research | Make sure you figure out which outfits and poses are going to flatter your curves the best! Try on your outfits and poses in front of your mirror at home before you come in. This may feel 100% awkward at the time, but I can guarantee you’ll feel more confident and comfortable when we start shooting if you already know your best angles and what assets you want to highlight!
-
Get sentimental | If you’re doing a boudoir session before your wedding, think about incorporating a few of your wedding details into the shoot. Some examples are a veil, your wedding shoes, a garter, or white lingerie.
-
Treat yo’self | Any Parks & Recreation fans out there? Channel your inner Donna and Tom and
treat yo’self! Go the extra mile to pamper yourself so you feel your very best when you walk into my studio. Whether that’s waxing, getting your hair and nails done, or getting a perfectly golden glow, do
#allthethings that will give you the most confidence. Whatever you’re treating yourself to, just be sure to try it out beforehand. Nobody wants orange hands or a waxing reaction to ruin their boudoir photos.
-
Pack a bag | Come prepared. Your bag should have extras of everything, including outfits, shoes, and accessories. Don’t forget to throw in your makeup bag and any hair essentials for touch-ups between outfit changes. Lastly, if you’re one who needs snacks or caffeine to keep your energy up, throw in some easy options like a Starbucks Doubleshot and raw almonds (which brings me to my final tip…)
-
Eat something | No one has fun when they’re hangry, so make sure you eat at least a little something before you arrive! Raw almonds are a great option because they provide a lot of energy without any of the extra bloat.
If you’ve done everything you can to prepare, then its my turn to pick up where you left off. Trust me when it comes to getting the best shots–I’ll be busy highlighting your beauty, strength, and fire. My hope is that you enjoy the session as much as you enjoy the photos.
