In an ideal world you would find me roaming the streets of Italy with my husband and our two dogs - a pastry in one hand and my camera in the other. I'm a travel-obsessed, dog-loving, 20-something year old gal and the owner and lead photographer at Tiger Lily Photography, a Minnesota & Arizona based wedding, boudoir & portrait photography company.
For every client I'm fortunate enough to serve, my overarching mission is to create an unforgettable experience while producing genuine, beautiful, and timeless images from each season of life.
I cherish your memories like my own and want them to live on forever. Your story matters and it deserves to be shared.
I forced my friends to participate in “photo shoots” whenever we would get together. Think Picnik photo edits on Canon Powershot images.
Andrew and I started dating. We were just babies, but I sure was crazy about him!
Andrew gave me my first DSLR camera for my birthday and I immediately purchased a “nifty 50” (50mm f1.8) lens to start my collection of lenses!
I began offering sessions I called Photos for a Cause, which was a way for me to creatively raise funds for a few different charities I was passionate about AND learn some great photography and business lessons along the way. My unofficial business name was Emily Kallis Photography.
I graduated high school and started my first semester at the University of St. Thomas. I had no idea what I was going to do with my life!
I graduated from Bethel University with a degree in Organizational Communication.
I shot my first wedding and Andrew proposed!
I create an LLC for my business and officially name the company Tiger Lily Photography, for my grandma Dori who was suffering from dementia at the time and later passed away in January 2018.
Andrew & I got married in our hometown!
My first real wedding season began!
Andrew shot his first wedding as my second shooter.
After working another full wedding season while balancing my full-time job, I suffered a panic attack while I was out with my dog, Stella. It was shortly after that when I made the decision to leave my marketing job and pursue photography full-time.
I left my job and went full time in my business!
Two associates are added to the TLP Team.
TLP Expands to serve Phoenix area.
My goal for this shoot was to create images that captured my femininity and confidence, in a tasteful and subtly sexy way. When I saw the resulting photos, I was blown away because they exceeded my expectations. Working with Tiger Lily Photography is always a wonderful experience. Emily makes me feel beautiful and confident which makes all the difference in the end product images. She encourages organic posing and always knows when to offer ideas and suggestions in regards to posing. I felt like she helped me to represent myself authentically. I have never felt fake, awkward or posed when working with Emily.

There's nothing more important to me than family. I married my high school sweetheart, Andrew who is a microbiologist (and, on the days he's available, he's also my second shooter for weddings)! Andrew has one brother, Alex who just had a sweet baby girl with his wife, Katie! I have one sister, Courtney, who lives in North Dakota with her hubs, Dustin! Courtney is a school counselor (and also my incredible virtual assistant)!
I live to travel and I love to experiencing new cultures, foods, and languages. So far, my favorite countries have been Italy, Montenegro, and Croatia! I'm a sucker for warm weather and sometimes I question my decision to live in Minnesnowta! I'm also a dual citizen (US and Canada), and travel back and forth to Canada to visit family up there!
We rescued our dogs, Stella & Dexter, from Spots Last Stop! If you're looking for a great rescue, reach out to Spots. Many of their dogs come from the southern states where spay and neuter laws are non-existent and high-kill shelters are over-populated. I don't know what I would do without these fluffy babes to keep me company when I edit and I'm so grateful we were the ones lucky enough to give them their forever home!
Growing up, I struggled with self-confidence and failed to understand my worth in the world. Even as an adult, with ads, movies, and social media constantly reinforcing that we need to look, act, or think a certain way to be valued, it can still be hard to feel like we are enough just as we are! Part of my mission is to make every woman I'm fortunate to work with feel like she is cherished, beautiful and valued just as she is.
My grandma & grandpa used to make homemade fudge and Norwegian treats whenever we would visit, so I'm sure that's where my sweet tooth first made it's debut! A few of my fave treats are macarons, dark chocolate, and champagne! One of my favorite post-wedding traditions is to pop a bottle of champagne with Andrew and sip it in our pjs before we collapse into a pile of exhaustion!
Growing up, I practically lived at my dance studio. All of my closest friends were my dance girls. So, naturally, I wanted to continue dancing after high school and auditioned for the Minnesota Timberwolves Dancers - and made it! At 19 years old, I spent nearly every night court-side at NBA games, repping my favorite team and dancing my heart out! It was one of the coolest experiences of my life!
