about tiger lily photography

Celebrating authenticity and joyful abandon through wedding, boudoir and branding photography in Minneapolis, MN, and Phoenix, AZ.

Andrew, my husband and high school sweetheart, gave me my first DSLR camera as a birthday gift when we were still dating in college. During our second year of marriage, when I was anxious and completely burnt out from working two full-time jobs, he was the one who helped me feel brave enough to leave my corporate job and make my dream of running my photography business full-time a reality.

I even named my business, Tiger Lily Photography, after my grandmother. Gifted with a natural green thumb, she delighted in every moment she spent in her garden, especially tending the tiger lilies in front of her home. Even when dementia robbed her of her memories and the hobby she treasured so much, her tiger lilies still faithfully returned year after year, becoming a symbol of the good times we had and her enduring love.

That’s why I’ve made it my mission to preserve moments and memories through weddings, portraits, and branding sessions in Minneapolis, MN and Phoenix, AZ.

I want to give you canvases that cover the walls of your first home as husband and wife and make you smile even in the middle of your first fight. I want to give you the headshots that showcase who you really are as a professional and give you the confidence to send your ideal client to your website knowing you’re about to close the deal. I want to give you the boudoir album filled cover-to-cover with photos that, even on your worst day, make you say, “Daaaaamn, girl! You look fine!” because I believe we all deserve to have images that lift us up and truly highlight the qualities (both inside and out) that make us unique and beautiful.

Most days you can find me at my treadmill desk, rocking a ponytail, a crew neck sweatshirt, and some high-waisted leggings while answering emails, editing galleries, or chatting with a new client on the phone. When I’m not hard at work, you can usually find me bingeing Friends or The Office (for like the 10th time don't judge!) with my dogs curled up next to me, hitting up a spin class, relaxing at my grandpa’s lake cabin with family, or planning my next big adventure with Andrew.

My family is truly the “why” behind who I am and what I do.

Let’s get started

I live for bright eyes and wrinkled noses, laugh lines and happy tears and I can’t wait to deliver a gallery filled with photos that make your soul dance.

Packing my bags and planning adventures

Burning lavender or lilac-scented candles

Bingeing true crime podcasts

Dancing like nobody's watching (even when people are actually watching)

Snuggling up with my pup

Growing cacti (or just looking at them in the desert)

Snacking on macarons or sipping prosecco

Rewatching Friends, The Office or Parks and Rec

Relaxing by the lake or the ocean

a few of my favorite things

Andrew | Second Shooter

My husband, full-time microbiologist and the king of our kitchen also (miraculously) makes room in his schedule to second shoot most of our weddings with me! It’s a blast having my most constant cheerleader by my side on these busy days, and TLP truly wouldn’t be what it is today without him. On wedding days, he brings his knack for direction, servant leadership, and ice-breaking sense of humor to make your special day even more special. We live together in Plymouth with our two dogs, Stella and Dexter.

I may be a little biased because she’s my older sister, but I’m pretty sure Courtney is the kindest person to ever live and breathe! With a quick wit and baller organizational skills, she deftly manages most of the behind-the-scenes around TLP, and we wouldn’t be able to function without her! So, if you see a blog post, social media tidbit or marketing email, it’s more than likely her work you’re marveling at. Courtney is a full-time school counselor in Bismarck, ND, where she and her husband are expecting the November arrival of their first baby!

Tess | Day-Of Coordinator and Second Shooter

Every stellar team needs a calming presence, and Tess is ours! As a former TLP bride herself, she truly knows every facet of the experience inside and out, and she is always ready to lend a helping hand on a wedding day. Her sweet soul, caring heart, and attention to detail make her an extraordinary member of our team. As your day-of coordinator, she will calm your nerves as the big day approaches and keep things running smoothly when it arrives. And when she has a camera in hand as a second shooter, her talents truly shine. Whether she’s fluffing dresses, fluttering a veil or snagging the perfect shot, this girl does it all! The northwestern Minnesota native now teaches full-time in the Twin Cities where she lives with her husband and dog.

- Lauren

This photography team is the BEST! Not only did they work with making my fiance and I comfortable for our photos, but their photographs were so much more than we imagined when we saw the final product! Highly recommended. Affordable, courteous, friendly, and VERY fun to work with.

- Chelsea

Incredible team of photographers that genuinely care about their clients! Emily was there to answer any questions and figure out details since the day we booked her for our wedding to the day of our wedding. Her shooters Jo and Isaac did an incredible job and captured the most beautiful photos on our big day! And, we just had so much fun with them and so did our whole wedding party and friends, it was the best experience we could've asked for!

- Ashley

Not only did they listen to our wants and needs, but they made everything so seamless and comfortable. I never had an ounce of worry that something was getting missed. And the proof was in the final product - our pictures turned out absolutely amazing! Emily, Andrew, and their growing company are professional, easy-going, creative people. I would highly recommend them to anyone
